Clicking on this camera icon actually blocks your image, and that self-view window shows just black space. But can this black rectangle also be removed to have the screen completely? Unfortunately, no. Or at least until now (2021), such a feature has not been considered for these messengers.

The good feature of this app is that you can double-tap the screen during a video call, either individually or in groups, to hide all the on-screen elements. This means that the self-view is hidden from your screen, but the other party can still see you.
